Lives and work in Bruxelles.
Louis Lallier gets to grip with the artistic ‘thing’ with the help of tools from the fields of the humanities, archival records and set design. During the course of his urban strolls, he collects items, situations, sounds, scents and behaviours. Once he has a surfeit of these, he pushes them through a sieve, producing a thick syrup. This forms the raw material for his installations, which are often accompanied by a sound track specially made for the event.
Most of the time, his work takes the shape of a display in which objects, images and videos come together and take on the role of protagonists, whispering critical, farce-tinged observations of our globalized society into our ears.
Recipient of an MA from the Beaux Arts de Rouen, he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels (ArBA-EsA) in the form of the Masters Programme in Curatorial Practices (CARE). He co-founded the Rolabola exhibition space (Rouen, France) in 2020, where he has the role of Art Director. His work has been displayed at the Galerie Duchamp (2023) and the Palais de Tokyo (2023). He was part of the Belgian Pavilion’s curatorial and artistic team for the 60th Venice Biennale.
